Join us and be part of the team that will change the future of aerospace as we now know it.The Southern California Global Design Center is currently seeking mid-level & senior Customer Engineers (Level 3 & 4) to join Boeing Global Services - Engineering Maintenance and Modifications team in Long Beach California.Customer Engineers evaluate customer operational needs to define and coordinate systems performance requirements and assure compatibility of all physical functional and program interfaces. They develop the planning organization implementation and monitoring of customer requirements and resolve cross-functional technical issues on a wide variety of commercial aircrafts – everything from McDonnell Douglas MD series airplanes to the latest Boeing 777X aircraft.Come be part of a diverse multi-disciplined team of Engineers operating in an agile environment using the latest tools and methodologies. At Boeing we are all innovators on a mission to connect protect explore and inspire.Position Responsibilities:Understand and manage technical configuration requirements for Boeing Global Services-Commercial ModificationsWork with Business units (Avionics Airplane Performance & Safety Interiors Connectivity) to ensure the Customers’ technical requirements are understood and also represent the Business Units interests with BGS Sales BCA Airplane Programs and the CustomersThe Customer Engineer Role is primarily focused on technical configuration requirements during Phase I (capturing the business)Monitor Phase II project efforts through the Phase II Program Managers to help ensure Customer satisfaction and provide awareness to the Sales teams of any Customer sensitive issuesApplies an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to plan design develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutionsEvaluates customers and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical functional and program interfacesPerforms various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecturePerforms analysis for affordability safety reliability maintainability testability human systems integration survivability vulnerability susceptibility system security regulatory certification product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission successDevelops the planning organization implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes tools risk issues opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processesResolves cross-functional technical issuesThis position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a “US Person†as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person†includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.   Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): Bachelor Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry.3 or more years of related work experience in Aviation (Engineering & Maintenance functions).Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally. (Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer).Experience in a customer-facing role.Preferred Skills / QualificationsWe work with a diverse set of technologies but most of all we value engineers who are eager to learn new ways to deliver value to our customers.5 or more years of Engineering experience on BCA BDS or BGSExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate to all levels of individualsMakes customers and their needs a primary focus of ones actionsAircraft Certification: Knowledge of the processes and procedures for certification of aircraft including Federal Aviation Authority [FAA] and foreign regulatory agency (e.g. JAA) requirementsKnowledge of airworthiness standards related to transport aircraft (e.g. FAR part 25)Knowledge of aircraft performance in various situations/conditions. Ability to assess type design data for showing complianceKnowledge of Boeing and Competitor airplane models and their basic dimensional and performance characteristics and the application of these models to the worldwide marketKnowledge of one or more airplane systems (e.g. Airframe Avionics Components Power plant Structures Interiors).Experience with BCA productions systems and BGS modifications servicesTypical Education/ExperienceLevel 3:  Bachelors degree and typically 5 or more years experience in an engineering classification or a Masters degree with typically 3 or more years experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred although not required accreditation standard.Level 4:  Bachelors degree and typically 9 or more years experience in an engineering classification or a Masters degree with typically 7 or more years experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering or computer science.
