Find your future with us.Our The Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) organization Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Chantilly VA.  Our Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment concept development proposal writing requirements and design build integration test and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.Position Overview:The Associate Systems Engineer will support a proprietary program in the Northwest Virginia area. This program is dynamic and exciting providing the opportunity to work within and learn a broad range of engineering subject areas. The position will serve as a focal point for vehicle technical issues and functions as well as coordination between site and factory engineering teams. The role will provide on-site operational support and technical oversight and implementation guidance for anomaly resolution and special test activities. As the Associate Systems Engineer you will ensure long-term vehicle health and that activities are planned coordinated and performed in a timely manner in line with spacecraft operations and the spacecraft factory direction.Primary Responsibilities:Providing daily oversight of vehicle subsystem functionality.Resolving multi-functional technical issues.Reviewing operational logs and addressing concerns.Reviewing daily trend plots.Reviewing limit checks across subsystems.Supporting factory and customer requests for specific monitoring or activities.Coordinating implementation of Boeing Factory Recommendations.Coordinating technical issue resolutions with local and factory experts.Conducting review(s) and closure(s) of discrepancy reports.Providing support to a daily Site- Factory interface meeting.Developing scripts and tools with Perl Python Matlab Excel/VBA etc.Authoring and updating multiple types of documentation.Maintaining knowledge of vehicle contingency procedures.Maintaining current workarounds and memograms.Maintaining/updating vehicle databases.Supporting memogram development providing guidance on anomaly resolution from the system perspective.Reviewing and reporting trend analysisSupporting deployments to contingency command control facilities and calibration activities.Providing weekly and monthly status of vehicle performance.Providing vehicle payload specific briefings and written reports.Supporting special Systems Engineering tests and transition related activities.Work Authorization:This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  (An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required).Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelors Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry.1 year or more of experience in systems engineering.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance with CI Polygraph.Experience working in a complex engineering environment.Experience with Space Systems Engineering groups.Experience developing scripts and tools with Perl Python Matlab Excel/VBA etc. Microsoft tool suites.Experience maintaining a clear focus in a dynamic real-time environment.Certification/qualification for program.Typical Education/Experience:  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
